Great Time in Guatemala

Hi Everyone,

I had a great time in Guatelmala! Thank you so much to those of you who were a part of my trip. I fell in love with the country and with the people while there, and I especially enjoyed our times of ministry with the kids.

We stayed in a beautiful part of Guatemala near Lake Atitlan overlooking a volcanic mountain. From there we traveled to various nearby towns to work with children.

Since it was during the school year we were able to do our programs right in the schools. I really enjoyed working with the kids. My main role was running soccer games, which I had a great time doing. I met a lot of cute kids and discovered that I could communicate with them in Spanish better than I expected!

We also did a lot of prayer walks, letting God lead us in prayer and also, at times, in conversations with the local people, and we ministered on the radio. Each of our team shared something. I shared a scripture.

During our free time, I got to climb a volcano, and also zipline down a mountain. Another part of each day was our devotion and team time. I had a great team leader. He had been a missionary in Guatemala for many years, and is now semi-retired. He served as a grandpa for the team. In fact, his grandson was also one of our leaders. I learned a lot from him during my time there.

And here is a video. It will give you a good feel for Guatemala and our whole trip.

So that's my trip. Thanks again so much! It definitely affected my life for the good, and we also did some great work in the lives of the people there.

Mission Training Begins

Hi All,

Dani and I dropped off Adam at the Adventures in Missions training camp in Georgia this weekend.

We've been very impressed all along by how organized the group is, their communication, and the overall beliefs and attitudes. But getting the chance to meet them in person was awesome! I feel like we're sending Adam off in great hands. We got to meet all of his team leaders, as well as the heads of the Ambassador teen program, and they're all wonderful people. His head team leader actually lived as a missionary in Guatemala for nine years, so he knows the culture and the terrain very well.

In this picture you can see Adam to the far left, one of his teammates in the tan shirt with his parents, and one of his leaders to the far right. Behind us are more of his teammates. There will be 22 teens and 4 adults heading to Guatemala.

Following dinner we had a great time of praise and worship together. The spirit of God was sooo strong in that place. What a great reassurance that was to Dani and me as parents! Then we had hugs and goodbyes and a few tears (all mine.) They'll be preparing for ministry and working on team building activities over the weekend, then heading off to Guatemala bright and early Monday morning.

Please continue to keep Adam and his team in your prayers!
